By the decision taken at the 30 December session of the Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission, the electricity generation tariff for Enguri HPP LLC has changed. Under the new decision, the rate of 1.818 tetri per kWh in force in 2018–2019 has been reduced to 1.358. The change also affected the tariff set for the Vardnili HPP cascade. By the decision taken at the session, the rate of 4.002 tetri per kWh previously in force has been reduced to 2.206.

This calculation was carried out in full compliance with the methodology. The reduction of the tariff was prompted by the postponement of investment works (2020–2022), and in particular by the repair of the diversion tunnel, which requires the plant to be shut down. Once that programme has been carried out, the tariff is expected to return to a higher level.
