“Enguri HPP is our wealth and our cheap energy. Since water losses have increased, the tunnel is not in the best condition. We chose the winter period for the rehabilitation because water levels are at their lowest then and generation is at a minimum. Shutting Enguri HPP down for three or four months will not harm our power system, because generation is seasonally at a minimum at this time,” said Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Natia Turnava.
