Given the high level of public interest, we would like to explain the situation at Enguri HPP as it stands today.
As of today, the water level in the Enguri HPP reservoir is 439 metres. Accordingly, given the remaining resource and the river inflow, Enguri HPP and Vardnili HPP are unable to cover the whole of Abkhazia’s consumption. That is why the Abkhaz side has begun restricting electricity and has introduced a four-hour rolling schedule.
It should be noted that the minimum water level in the Enguri HPP reservoir is 420 metres. When the water approaches that mark, the operation of the plant will be restricted, meaning it will run for only a few hours a day, depending on the inflow.
