“The resource in the reservoir is limited. The reasons are low water levels and increased consumption in Abkhazia. The coming months — from the end of January through February and March — will be particularly difficult, because the resource held in the reservoir and the expected inflow are not enough to cover consumption in Abkhazia,” said Levan Mebonia, chairman of the Board of Directors of Enguri HPP LLC, in a telephone interview with Sakmiani Dila.

“Rehabilitation work on the electromechanical and hydromechanical equipment of Enguri HPP is already under way. The repair of the diversion tunnel, which requires the plant to be shut down, is planned from the second half of February 2021 through May,” adds the chairman of the Board of Directors of Enguri HPP LLC.
