Work on the technical and economic study for building a tourist centre at Enguri HPP is almost complete

“This project costs several tens of millions of lari, but we do not yet have a final version. We are weighing several models — a simple one, a complex one, one with more attractions, one with fewer, and so on. The fund alone cannot cover all of this, so the state has to decide who will finance it and whether the private sector will be involved,” said Giorgi Chikovani, adding that it is not ruled out that the tourist centre at Enguri HPP will be built in a public-private partnership format.

Chikovani also does not rule out that work on this project will begin after Enguri HPP shuts down for the rehabilitation of its diversion tunnel. All of this, as the management of Enguri HPP explains, is planned for the spring of 2021.
