The overhaul of power transformer No. 5 at Enguri HPP is complete

Repair works continue at Enguri HPP. As planned, the overhaul of power transformer No. 5 has now been completed.

All the works defined by the scope of the overhaul were carried out. The transformer cover was removed, the active core was pressed, and the windings and the tank were cleaned. After these works, the transformer was dried over the course of a month. The insulation of the windings was also restored and the transformer was filled with 70 tonnes of oil of the required grade.

It should be noted that transformers are overhauled once every 10 to 12 years, and an overhaul is far larger in scale than routine work. The rehabilitation of such equipment is also scheduled according to a long-term plan agreed with the power system.
