Georgia’s largest power plant, Enguri HPP, has been switched on again after three months of rehabilitation — this is the information released by the administration of the hydropower plant.

“At 17:40 on 27 April 2021 Enguri HPP was connected to the common grid. Following the successful completion of the rehabilitation works on the diversion tunnel, the hydro units of the country’s largest hydropower plant have already started up.

We congratulate every member of the Enguri HPP team, everyone involved in the rehabilitation, and all those who care about Georgian energy on this important event!

It should be noted that Enguri HPP was shut down on 20 January 2021 for the rehabilitation of the diversion tunnel. The repair works ran around the clock. The rehabilitated section of the tunnel was inspected jointly by Georgian and foreign specialists. In their assessment, the repair works carried out fully meet the established standards,” the statement released by the plant says.
